Helping Mommy

Posted on 02-02-2017

Doesn’t it just seem like kids have endless energy? Have you ever wanted to harness that energy into something productive? Some days you could probably run a power plant on that energy! The good news is if your children are young enough, they still love helping you, and they just want to be a part of everything. If your kids want to help, let them!

Simplify. If your child has very little toys, then that means very little mess! Go for quality over quantity, and teach them how to clean up their own room. Sounds difficult if they have loads of things in their room, but if you simplify, it’s actually quite doable! A good motto to remember is that if a child is old enough to get a toy out, then he’s old enough to put it back.

Create chore charts. Even if your child is preschool, there are things that they can do to help around the house. Wipe out kitchen chairs, dry and put away silverware, and maybe even feed the puppy! Find little things to teach them and those little things will grow into real chores, and real help later on.

Ask for help. Hire a mommy’s helper, or ask grandparents to come over for the day while you catch up on things that you need to do. Everyone needs help, so don’t be afraid to ask for it! Everyone needs breaks from their job, but being a mommy is a job that has no breaks! Look for and accept help, and remember that you cannot do everything by yourself.

We hope that these tips can be helpful to you as you seek to raise up the next generation. Simply, plan, and enlist help as you take on one of the most demanding jobs that you could have—motherhood.
